Solvang is one of my all time favorite places to visit! It has a little bit of everything; from wineries, to candy stores, from parks to Danish pastries.
Easily distinguished from afar due to its unique architecture; it is a town that cannot be missed. You’ll see many windmills, and traditional storks perched on top of thatched roofs. The various shops will fill you with delight; you can find anything from chocolates to Danish Christmas ornaments, boutiques, to jewelry.

Food and drinks are a must! There are about 20 wine tasting rooms within walking distance. Concerned about your food options? Worry not! You can enjoy international and wine country cuisine at more than 35 restaurants. And let us not forget about the wonderful Danish pastries. There are 5 bakeries you can explore; we really enjoyed the goodies from The Solvang Bakery.
Visiting Solvang is a great opportunity to visit other great attractions like The Solvang Vintage Motorcycle Museum. Entrance is $10. You’ll see both contemporary and classic motorcycles. A visit to Solvang isn’t a visit if you don’t see the Hans Christian Andersen museum; an independent bookstore. Hans Christian Andersen is the author of classics like The Little Mermaid and The Ugly Duckling. If you are a fan of El Camino Real missions, you also run across Old Mission Santa Ines. During the summer, there are live performances at the Solvang Festival Theater.

Not far from Solvang, you’ll find Ostrichland. The general admission fee is $5, and $1 extra to feed the ostrich. It is an interesting experience; I was honestly afraid I’d be pecked while I was feeding them. Hence my nervous distance in this picture as I approached them:

Regardless, I had a great time. We learned a lot about these birds; their amazing speed and survival. There is a cute shop full of unique gifts and fresh eggs too.
There is so much more to do in Solvang, but if you are short on time, these are a few things you can do during your visit. I end this blog post with an ostrich selfie!

Me & my family got to go last year and we loved feeding the ostriches.A one in a lifetime experience ! was also weird getting to hold the ostrich eggs, weird for sure.
