MODS

The Museum of Dream Space or MODS, describes itself as the first museum mainly exhibiting digital art in the U.S. It was inspired by art design from Yayoi Kusama (her work is at The Broad’s infinity mirrors exhibit).

I got admission tickets in a presale for $24, but at the moment, general admission is $32 (https://modsla.com). The exhibit has 6 rooms. All rooms are illuminated and a burst of color to your senses. Each room has a different theme; from gold covered walls…

Would I recommend this exhibit? Honestly, no. This exhibit has fewer rooms than other pop-ups I’ve attended. There was one room we didn’t even take pictures in because it was just a sad projection of a stand still geometric flower; it lacked imagination and left much more to be desired.

We went under the impression that it would be more interactive; so it was a bit disappointing. Also, I think the price point is way too high for general admission. I only went because we managed to get tickets at a discounted price. Furthermore, I wish there would have been someone overlooking the rooms because some people didn’t give others the opportunity to take more imaginative pictures. Despite this, we managed to entertain ourselves and had a good time.

On a side note, we ate at Gracias Madre — and I highly recommend that restaurant! The food and drinks were delicious! Next time you’re in the area, definitely check it out! Vegan food tastes too good!
